Square dancing
Virginia Plancarte
Why did we do square dancing ?
We started to do square dancing because it is the national dance of the United States. The exact definition is a dance for four couples (eight people) arranged in a square , with one couple on each side facing the middle of the square. At first the square dancing looked very complex and like it was really hard. However when we actually started doing it, it wasn't that hard however it moved pretty fast, and you needed to pay close attention. I also think we did it to get close to our actual heritage more. Since we already are pretty close to ethic heritage, for example I already know folklore because of my Mexican heritage and know I know closer to my American heritage.
What did we do ?
Well first Ms.Longi put us into partners and then we got into groups. The first dance we learned was one of the easiest however it took long because we were learning all the steps at first. I feel like my group was pretty good and majority of them took it serious. My partner did good, and sometimes got confused with certain steps but we did good overall. The second one we danced was the funnest, because I liked the song and it had a lot of turning which was pretty fun. The third one was my least favorite, however it was too confusing. The whole switching partners part was confusing also the "star" tunnel thing was confusing. However overall it was a fun segment to do in P.E because it was fun and you still got the work out you need.
Conclusion
As stated before I enjoyed getting into the other heritage I have in me. I also thought was fun the turning part, however I wished we got to choose our partners next time, that would have made it more fun. I do want to continue dancing because you still get the work out and I hope to do it next time. I also hope to explore other genres of dancing that are still fun. I was an overall fun and pleasant experience.
